Our Core Issues:

  • Climate change is already profoundly affecting life on earth. “From island nations that are going underwater, to indigenous land being exploited for fossil fuel extraction... The fight against climate change is a fight for justice.” (

  • Overwhelming scientific consensus is that human activity is the major cause of the rapid climate change we are experiencing. And yet many of our top government officials deny human agency in climate change. The U.S. government is lagging behind the rest of the world in taking steps to curb carbon emissions -- the single biggest contributor to the problem -- and other greenhouse gases such as the methane from intensive animal agriculture. Clean air regulations are being rolled back, and government scientists are forbidden to even use the term “climate change” or “global warming.”

  • Key to solving the climate crisis is keeping fossil fuels in the ground and developing renewable energy sources.

  • There are lots of ways to individually and collectively reduce our impact on our planet. We can do better!

What will we do?

  • Divestment: Encourage/demand that our unions, retirement boards, employers, universities and other organizations or companies divest from fossil fuel.

  • Investment: Support public investment in alternative energy.

  • Education: Teach ourselves and others about climate change issues and explore how to reduce our environmental impact on Planet Earth.

  • Join the efforts of Jewish and interfaith groups that may be working on these issues as well.

  • Respond to the rollback of EPA regulations.

  • Support state and local legislation that addresses climate change; demand that California ban fracking.

  • Adopt a beach or trail and have regular clean-up days
